Training salespeople to sell is the single most annoying responsibility for gallery director. One of the more frequent obstacles I encounter is the salesperson’s mindset. But it can often start with the gallery director.
In any company, the overall attitude of the company comes directly from the top, creating a didactic of sorts. Whether because of mandate or just the influence of a powerful personality, the staff takes on the attitude and the business approach of the owner/operator.
